BTEC in Driving Science: Do more than pass your test.

Research over the last two decades has shown that driving is a safety critical skill that depends on three interacting elements:

  1. Road and Traffic environment
  2. The vehicle being driven
  3. Driver Competence

The Btec in Driving Science has been designed to teach drivers essential scientifically based concepts covering all three elements.
Topics include the physics of crash impacts, fundamentals of fuel efficient driving and how driver behaviour influences the probability of being involved in a crash.
This course will produce a more fully informed and competent driver with a full appreciation of the facts that influence safety

Btec in Driving Science: What’s Involved?

Alongside your normal driving lessons you will be given access to award winning software that is split into five modules. These modules help you towards your in car assessments with your approved Btec instructor.

       In car training that addresses the importance of integrating the right attitude with car control skills. Over the five modules (one post test) you cover night time and motorway driving, risk management and decision making skills. These will not only make you safer but also more likely to pass your test first time.
      

On Line access to award winning e-learning systems with a2om mind and a2om highway. These are designed to help you develop mental fitness for driving using specific motoring scenarios that will ultimately make you more skilful on the roads.
      

Assessments after each module. You must pass a combination of on-line and in car assessments. You are allowed to take unlimited retakes and will be advised by your instructor when you are ready for each assessment.
